Pop Up Records and the entire Hum Tribute Team are extremely excited to announce the addition of Junius [Mylene Sheath Records], City of Ships [Translation Loss Records] and Arctic Sleep to the ever growing list of incredible bands set for the HUM tribute album. Junius, City of Ships, and Arctic Sleep join the previously announced bands ConstantsOpen HandSolar Powered Sun Destroyer(Damn) This Desert AirFuneral For A FriendThe Esoteric, and Anakin. While covering a diverse range of rock music, Hum has had a great influence on all of these bands, and we are thrilled to have them involved in the project.

Junius have built a strong name for themselves over the past few years thanks to their tireless touring schedule and unbelievable live show. After releasing last year’s masterpiece The Martyrdom of a Catastrophist to rave reviews from Rolling Stone, Pitchfork.com, and countless others, the guys have been busy supporting the release on the road. After a successful run with ORBS, Junius have just completed crossing the country along with Valient Thorr and Howl before making their highly anticipated appearance at this year’s Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, Texas.

“A perfect hybrid of Neurosis and the Smiths, striking a stunning balance of brutality and beauty. Spellbinding and heartbreaking, gripping from the first note to the last. A hard rock dream come true.” – Rolling Stone

City of Ships inclusion on the tribute album was practically a given, after all, they have been performing crushing Hum covers live for several years now. Look What God Did To Us, their debut full length was released last year, and the band have been impressing audiences with their densely layered heaviness ever since. There is no question that City of Ships is a band on the rise, with no telling just how far their brutally intelligent brand of indie metal will take them.

“[City of Ships’] Look What God Did To Us is a force to be reckoned with. Its ebb and flow between monolithic slabs of menacing power chord crunch and ethereal, meandering leads is a musical whitewater excursion that begins ever so gently, only to climax with a drop over Niagara Falls.” – Adam Thomas [sputnikmusic.com]

Arctic Sleep has self released two albums over the past four years that deserve your attention in a major way. The trio blends deep atmospheric beauty with crushing guitars paying close attention to layers and textures. Excitement for Arctic Sleep is steadily growing with each new listener, and fans of Hum will soon discover why they are Chicago’s best kept secret. The band are gearing up to release their third record Earth to Earth in late November, so consider yourselves warned.

“Arctic Sleep’s signature sound of sluggish tempos, a super-heavy rhythm section, down-tuned riffing, and whispery vocals all weaving a series of dynamics ranging from quiet, contemplative moments of introverted vulnerability to cosmic waves of absolute, monolithic loudness”
